Essential Duties and Responsibilities : The essential duties and responsibilities of this job are included but not limited to this job description – other tasks may be assigned and expected to be performed.
- Analyzes product or equipment specifications and performance requirements to determine designs which can be produced by existing manufacturing methods.
- Determines feasibility of designing new plant equipment or modifying existing facilities considering costs, available space, time limitations, company planning, and other technical and economic factors.
- Works closely with the Sales department by providing technical support to customer requests and spearheading implementations of new products and designs.
- Provides technical information concerning manufacturing or processing techniques, materials, properties, and process advantages and limitations which affect long range plant and product engineering planning.
- Prepares or directs preparation of product or system layout and detailed drawings.
- Compiles and analyzes test data and reports to determine if designs meet functional and performance specifications.
- Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
- Directs and / or advises installation personnel during equipment modification or installation at the end user facility.
- Supervises mechanical engineering manpower to achieve project scope of work. Coordinates with other departments as a project engineer / manager. Provides guidance and mentors less experienced department personnel with the goal of improving employee performance and business profitability.
- Approves and checks mechanical engineering drawing packages before submittal to other departments. All mechanical drawing packages submitted by personnel that do not hold the title Senior Mechanical Engineer must be checked by the Mechanical Engineering Assistant Manager before submittal to other departments.
- Develop training activities for mechanical engineers with the goal of improving performance and providing value-added skills to personnel.
- ISO 14001 : All associates are required to conform to ISO 14001 standards and procedures.
- Other tasks / functions as assigned.
