Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled Field Customer Service Technician to join our team at the Water Services Corporation.
This role is responsible for performing daily operations and maintenance activities related to customer service, utility billing, and meter reading. The successful candidate will have a solid understanding of proper meter configuration, installation, repairs, and billing test circles.
The position involves interacting with customers, completing scheduled maintenance tasks, performing meter reads, and reviewing service orders to ensure accuracy and meet Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
The ideal candidate will have good knowledge of utility systems, public utilities ordinances, and be able to converse with the public on difficult problems. They must also demonstrate proven ability to recommend process improvements and work collaboratively with the Customer Service Supervisor and other departments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform day-to-day activities related to meter service area
- Interact with customers by phone, in person, or written correspondence
- Complete scheduled maintenance tasks, including preventive, corrective, and investigative service orders and delinquent turn-offs
- Perform meter read upload/download and review service orders daily
- Participate in coordinating activities between the Maintenance Department and Customer Service Department to meet KPIs and client expectations
- Identify and implement corrective action where necessary
- Meet KPI goals, such as Service Order Completion, Billing Accuracy, Meter Reading Accuracy, Customer Service Complaints, Time Components Meter Reading and Billed Time Frames
- Ensure company vehicles operate according to company policy
- Adhere to all USWSC policies and procedures
Requirements:
- Knowledge of proper meter service repair, maintenance, and installation
- Knowledge of meter configuration and application
- Knowledge of meter reading systems, software, and mobile devices
- Knowledge of tools, equipment, or machinery necessary for proper operations on the utility system
- Ability to determine service type requirements and notify Lead Meter Technician of changes to premise that may affect billing
- Ability to use personal or handheld computer devices
- Ability to determine and employ proper maintenance of traffic conditions
- Ability to read basic engineering drawings or blue prints as it relates to water service
