As we continue to grow, we are seeking a skilled and motivated Health, Safety & Environmental Coordinator to join our team. This role will focus on promoting, mentoring, and providing leadership for a safe, healthy, and environmentally compliant work environment.
Position Overview : The Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Coordinator will act as the subject matter expert the Tampa Bay Seawater Desalination Facility. Employed by U.S. Water - Acciona Seawater Desalination Partners, LLC, the HSE Coordinator will oversee the development, implementation, and management of safety, industrial hygiene, environmental compliance, and hazardous waste programs. This role ensures adherence to local, state, federal, and corporate regulations while driving continuous improvement, hazard identification, risk mitigation, and training to maintain a safe and environmentally responsible workplace. Additionally, the coordinator will manage data collection and generate regulatory reports to support compliance and operational excellence.
Essential Functions :
- Safety & Health Responsibilities :
OSHA 501 authorized General Industry trainer
Advanced knowledge of OSHA CFR 1910 & 1926 regulationsImplement and enforce health and safety plans, procedures, and practicesConduct and / or participate in safety meetings, training, and inspectionsSupport leadership to standardize safety practices across facilitiesIdentify and evaluate workplace hazards, implementing corrective measures as neededInvestigate near misses, accidents / incidents, root cause analysis, and ensure corrective actions are takenPerform routine safety assessments, inspections, and documentationMaintain expertise in Lock Out / Tag Out, Confined Space Entry, Fall Protection, and other workplace safety standardsOversee pre-work equipment inspections and PPE usage documentationEnsure safety orientations for new hires, visitors, and subcontractors are completedMonitor and report safety performance indicators to leadershipEnvironmental Responsibilities :Develop and enforce environmental management systems in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations
Ensure compliance with environmental permits, waste management, and hazardous materials handlingConduct environmental audits and assessments to evaluate and minimize environmental risksImplement environmental programs to reduce waste, emissions, and energy consumptionStay current on new environmental laws and regulations, integrating them into company practicesProvide environmental training and guidance to staff on compliance and sustainability effortsCoordinate and oversee spill response and emergency management plans for environmental incidentsPromote sustainability initiatives and environmental best practices within operationsCollaboration and Leadership :Guide and direct the organization in meeting health, safety, and environmental regulations
Work closely with the Fleet & Safety Manager to identify and track safety metricsConsult on driver safety orientations, safety ride-alongs, and post-accident testingPromote a culture of safety and environmental awareness across teamsParticipate in the development and implementation of accident and environmental incident response protocolsOther Duties :Perform other related duties as assigned to support organizational goals and compliance initiatives
Ensure continuous improvement by driving safety and environmental performance standards across operationsEducation / Experience Requirements :
Health and Safety certification preferred (CSP, SMS, ASP, CHST, OHST)Environmental certifications (e.g., Environmental Health & Safety Professional, Certified Hazardous Materials Manager) a plus5 years of experience in a health, safety, and environmental coordination role, ideally in a manufacturing or industrial settingStrong technical writing skills, including the ability to prepare reports and regulatory documentsAbility to assess complex environmental and safety risks and implement corrective actionsFamiliarity with environmental compliance programs, including waste management, air quality, water protection, and sustainabilityRequired Skills :
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholdersStrong analytical skills and problem-solving abilityProficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and other relevant softwareAbility to gather, analyze, and synthesize complex dataSelf-motivated with a focus on continuous improvementAbility to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced and dynamic work environmentAbility to meet deadlinesCompensation and Benefits :
