JOBSUMMARY

This is aprofessional sales position responsible for the improvement ofSysco’s market position and achieving financial growth by executinglong-term strategic goals, prioritizing the use of advancedanalytics and other forms of lead generation while leveragingSysco’s Salesforce platform, and negotiating contracts to securenew business. By utilizing a team-selling approach, the NewBusiness Developer will engage a cross-functional team to create acomprehensive strategy that meets the prospect’s needs. Leveragingthese resources, the New Business Developer fosters relationshipswith prospects and transitions these accounts to the sales forceduringonboarding.

  • The primary responsibility ofthis role is to deliver the agreed upon new business plan inalignment with the region’s financialgoals
  • Works with the regional sales leaders onthe development of a comprehensive business developmentstrategy
  • Leverages advanced analytics insightsto prioritize opportunities and develop business developmentstrategy
  • New Business Developer will also beresponsible to prioritize intel opportunities being recommended byother sales team members (processed through Sysco Salesforceplatform with leadership approval)
  • Accountableto build creative and effective sales plan to capitalize onmulti-segment opportunities identified by advancedanalytics
  • By leveraging theexpertise and skills of a cross-functional sales team, the NewBusiness Developer will have the ability to quickly addressprospects’ unique concerns, build trust, and shorten salescycles
  • By working with thecollective sales team, the NBD will coordinate proposal process forlocal contracts that speaks to the client’s needs, concerns andobjectives
  • Collaborates with sales team toexpand business development efforts, including assisting othersales team members secure key accounts in efforts to achieve annualprofit plan
  • Reviews weekly, monthly andquarterly sales objectives and results for target accounts andprepare action plans where improvement isneeded
  • New Business Developer willbe provided continuous training / education opportunities on keyareas / skillsets (basic MA-training, business developmentcertifications, and executive business developmenttraining)
  • Gathers information onemerging market and foodservice industry trends to understand thecompetitive landscape and top position Sysco for increasedeffectiveness in securing new business
  • Stayscurrent with development in the field through participation inseminars, workshops and readingpublications
  • Develops strong workingrelationships with brokers, distributors, and foodservice industrypeers. This associate is expected to be an active member of thefoodservice community
  • Learnsquickly when facing new challenges; thrives on fast-paced learningenvironment
  • Adapts well to changeand views new experiences as growthopportunities
  • Seeks out opportunities toimprove by applying feedback fromothers
  • Ensures that data and activity onprospect accounts is accurately entered and managed within SyscoSalesforce platform
  • Identifiesopportunities for promotions, additional services, and distributionavenues that will lead to an increase insales
  • Presents to and consultswith senior level management on trends in the foodserviceindustry
  • Attends sales meetings, food shows,customer events etc. and provide feedback
  • Stayscurrent with Sysco’s value-added offerings and technologysolutions, including but not limited to customer-facing reportingtool

QUALIFICATIONS

Education / Experience

  • Minimum : High School diploma or GED, and 3 years’ relevant sales experiencein a business-to-business professional sales environment, and 2 ormore years’ with a proven track record of new businessdevelopment.
  • Preferred : Bachelor’s degree in arelated field or equivalent educationallevel.
  • KnowledgeSkills

  • Solidanalytical problem-solving skills, including familiarity withanalyzing reports and deriving insights fromdata
  • Ability toexpress information in terms of profit and loss, food cost andexpense ratio
  • Strongfinancial accumen and ability to properly plan and execute businessplans
  • Flexible;readily accepts change; open to new ideas
  • Strong interpersonalskills and ability to work with and influence a variety of keystakeholders
  • Strongcommunication skills; ability to effectively communicate withinternal and external teams
  • Ability to understandand manage compliance tocontracts
  • Ability tolearn the use of proprietary CRM tools for planning and forecastingsalesgrowth
  • Demonstratedability to deliver against deadlines and produce high-qualityresults (accuracy, thoroughness in the deliverables they areproducing)
  • Proficientin Microsoft Applications Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint,Outlook)
  • Excellentorganizational and project management skills, including the abilityto execute multiple initiatives at the sametime
  • Business andrestaurant operations acumen to manage sophisticatedcustomers
  • Demonstratedexperience with building trust with a prospective customer andsecuring newbusiness
  • Demonstratedskills in the area of consultative selling, networking andnegotiations
  • Proactive,self-directed, with the ability to structure a weekly schedule tobesuccessful
  • Understandingof marketing principles, product lines, ordering procedures andSysco’s creditterms
