Job Overview
The Fleet Maintenance Technician will be responsible for performing quality preventive maintenance inspections and repairs on company vehicles and equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform required inspections and preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment within planned time tolerances to maximize safety, reliability, and cost efficiency throughout the life cycle of the fleet.
- Conduct FAI/CVI (Annual) inspections on all fleet vehicles including tractors, trailers, converter dollies, light-duty vehicles, and any other company-owned equipment in accordance with federal, state, and local legal and regulatory agencies.
- Perform quality preventive maintenance inspections per company methods on all fleet vehicles including tractors, trailers, converter dollies, refrigeration units, lift-gates, light-duty vehicles, and any other company-owned equipment.
- Diagnose cause of any malfunction and perform repairs to manufacturer specifications including but not limited to engines, transmissions, and clutches, drive-line, differential, steering and suspension, fuel and ignition system, exhaust systems, intake systems, electrical systems, brake systems, HVAC systems, and lift-gate hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems.
- Mentor, teach, and share expertise with Fleet Technician I and II to aid in their development to positions of greater responsibility.
Requirements and Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; 2-year degree in a related field or certification preferred.
- Current and valid driver's license required; CDL preferred but not required.
- Medium/Heavy Duty truck technical training and/or ASE certifications in automotive or medium/heavy duty trucks preferred.
- Proficient in electrical meter testing, knowledge of controls, electric (DC distribution center low voltage), and electric motor knowledge (DC).
- Ability to operate various pieces of equipment, stand, sit, walk, bend, reach, push/pull, lift/carry, grasp tools, and perform repetitive motion with wrenches and hand tools.
