We create and operate state-of-the-art models to drive business impact for all of Clorox's businesses, working closely with business R&D (product, process and package) and our supply chain counterparts. In this role, you will: Collaborate with high-performing teams to improve Clorox’s product (formula, process, package) development through the combined use of physics-based and statistical modeling tools to make Clorox innovation processes faster, leaner and more consumer-obsessed Leverage a broad set of tools to develop accessible models that enable Clorox R&D to respond to consumer needs more quickly, leveraging models to rapidly address changes in new features/claims, raw material supply, process parameters, cost concerns, competitive activity and shifting market demands to simplify and solve innovation and everyday business challenges Implement new capabilities, tools and processes; help to develop best practices and drive continuous improvement in innovation and technology throughout R&D Build and maintain partnerships with vendors and external organizations related to Modeling and Simulation Develop modeling and simulation (M&S) expertise across a wide range of disciplines relating to CPG, including acting as a liaison between business partners and external experts/partners Engage with the broader R&D organization and proliferate M&S tools and expertise through training, improved user interfaces and demonstration of value with M&S use cases Mentor/coach Clorox R&D scientists and technicians to drive a digital-first culture Allocate people against current business priorities What we look for: MS/PhD in Chemistry, Engineering, Applied Physics or related technical field / Additional training or experience in Statistics, Data Science or Computer Science a plus Minimum 5 years with PhD (7 years with MS) of direct experience in modeling products and/or processes preferably in the formulated products space Experience growing modeling and simulation capability in a large organization; CPG experience preferred, but not required Demonstration of strong leadership, technical, communication and teamwork skills Demonstrated expertise in one or more areas of: statistical analysis and modeling, fundamental physical or chemical modeling and simulation applied to products, packages or processes, consumer modeling, other fundamental math/modeling skills (Physical Models e.g. FEA, CFD, DEM, Molecular Modeling; Process Modeling: Discrete Event, Process Simulation; Data Science models: Regression, Classification, Boosted Trees, Random Forest, Neural Nets, Mixed Models) Expert user of key modeling languages, tools and packages such as R, Python, SQL, JMP/JMP Live, Star-CCM , Simcenter Culgi Strategic vision with ability to propose and articulate short- and long-term scenarios to grow modeling and simulation capabilities with direct business benefit Good to have but not required: experience with cloud computing, experience with data engineering, experience in basic UI design for models, experience with Agile development environments Workplace type: Hybrid or Remote: If the person is based in / near the Pleasanton, CA office, they will be asked to go into the office at least 2 days a week. The applicable salary range for every role in the U.S. is based on your work location and is aligned to one of three zones according to the cost of labor in your area. –Zone A: $104,100 - $199,100 –Zone B: $95,500 - $183,300 –Zone C: $86,800 - $166,600 All ranges are subject to change in the future.
