The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As a Product Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
Work closely with production operators and plant engineering teams to resolve and improve chemical processing equipment downtime issues.
Leading response to EHS incidents, quality issues and audit findings through root cause analysis and highly effective corrective actions.
Helping to lead a safety-driven culture through management of change (MOC), process hazard analysis (PHA) and participation on site and department safety committees.
Leading Continuous Improvement teams and Product and Process Understanding (PPU) efforts to improve safety, increase yields, improve productivity and raise the bar for process capability on manufacturing equipment
Creating and maintaining standard operating procedures, work instructions and test methods
Supporting a dynamic 24x7 operation through a willingness to be on-call
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) in chemical or mechanical engineering from an accredited institution
Three (3) years of combined experience in process or product engineering in a private, public, government or military environment
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
Master’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering (completed and verified prior to start) in chemical or mechanical engineering from an accredited institution
Five (5) years of combined experience in process or product engineering in a private, public, government or military environment
Excellent mechanical and/or chemical aptitude and problem-solving skills; practical and hands-on, with analytical comprehension and data driven decision making
Experience with Lean Six Sigma, Design of Experiments (DOE), and Statistical Analysis
Ability to work both independently and in cross-functional teams from multiple locations and divisions
Ability to navigate through ambiguity and change
Work location: On-Site Cottage Grove, MN
Travel: May include up to 5%
Relocation Assistance: May be authorized
