Field Technician – Yard Maintenance Job Description

Summary/Objective:
The Field Technician will work independently and with other personnel to maintain and operate equipment and processes in the refinery. The Field Technician will work in outside weather and elements, blowing air, heat, noise, vibration and occasionally working from heights and confined spaces.
Responsibilities:
- Monitoring and observing assigned area for abnormal conditions and emergency situations.
- Working with outside contractors and agencies.
- Participating in OSHA safety policy and procedures.
- Performa various duties required to keep their assigned processing unit/area operating safely and at specified production/run rates
- Demonstrating awareness and commitment to safety Maintenance.
- Housekeeping and clean-up of grounds keeping/grounds maintenance.
- Minor carpentry and/or civil work Lead abatement General labor (setup/tear down, etc.) Identifying and pursuing cost reduction opportunities.
- May assist with hazardous and volatile materials under high temperature and pressure.
- Assist in general maintenance of company equipment, service, grease, etc.
- Wash and clean company equipment – Pressure wash, clean cabs, etc.
- General housekeeping – sweep floors, take out trashes, and help keep work areas clean and organized.
- Help with future job load outs or unloads from previous jobs – Return equipment and PPE back to designated areas.
- Preform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Preferred: 1 years of experience in an industrial or petrochemical environment in a related role
- Willing and able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC).
- Current Driver license
- Must be willing and able to work overtime (including weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts)
- Be on call and respond to callouts during off hours due to business necessity
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel and Outlook preferred
- Proactive and results-oriented and able to effectively interact with all organizational levels and value diversity
- Demonstrated communications and teamwork skills
Physical Requirements:
- Lift up to 50 pounds Work in enclosed spaces such as tanks and silos
- Work safely near large, hot, high-speed machines.
- Climb up to 200 feet in height; work at elevated heights
- Work around chemicals, including acids and bases Wear fire retardant clothing and personal protective equipment (such as steel-toed shoes, ear/eye protection)
