Job Summary : The Senior Project Estimator is responsible for preparing detailed and accurate cost estimates for all construction projects. This role involves analyzing project requirements, assessing material, labor, and equipment costs, and collaborating with various team members to ensure financial accuracy and project feasibility.
Key Responsibilities :
Project Evaluation and Analysis :
- Review RFP packages provided by the customer.
- Conduct site visits and feasibility studies to gather relevant data and assess site conditions.
- Analyze project requirements to develop comprehensive cost estimates, project timelines and customer expectations.
Cost Estimation :
Prepare detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontracted services.Develop quantity take-offs for all project components and ensure accuracy in calculations.Utilize advanced estimating software and tools to produce accurate estimates.Budgeting and Financial Planning :
Provide value solutions to optimize project costs without compromising quality.Documentation and Reporting :
Prepare and present detailed cost estimate reports, proposals, and bid documents.Conduct variance analysis to compare estimated costs with actual project costs.Maintain comprehensive records of all estimates, bids, and project-related financial data.Collaboration and Communication :
Collaborate with operations, project managers, and other team members to ensure accurate and complete estimates.Communicate with clients to present cost estimates and address any questions or concerns.Work closely with procurement teams to obtain accurate pricing from vendors and suppliers.Risk Management :
Identify potential risks and uncertainties in the project and incorporate contingency plans into estimates.Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, industry standards, and company policies.Leadership and Mentorship :
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior estimators and other team members.Lead estimation teams in large-scale projects and coordinate efforts to ensure consistency and accuracy.Continuous Improvement :
Stay updated with industry trends, best practices, and advancements in estimating techniques.Continuously improve estimation processes and methodologies based on project feedback and outcomes.Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.Minimum of 5 years of experience in project estimation, with a focus on pipeline and maintenance projects.Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work independently and lead estimation teams.Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry standards.Physical Requirements :
Ability to conduct site visits and assessments, which may include walking, climbing, and exposure to varying weather conditions.Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Work Environment :
Primarily office-based, with occasional travel to project sites and client meetings.
Salary : $150,000 - $170,000
