We are seeking a dedicated Emergency Room (ER) Nurse to provide high-quality, direct and indirect patient care in our fast-paced emergency care setting. This role requires a nurse who can work independently, with minimal supervision, while demonstrating initiative, flexibility, and responsibility. The ideal candidate will be skilled in triaging patients rapidly and accurately, addressing both physical and psychosocial needs, and managing patient flow through the system efficiently.
The ER Nurse will work closely with ER Physicians and Mid-level Providers to monitor changes in patient conditions, symptoms, and diagnostic results. They must be able to respond quickly to changes in patient condition and provide appropriate interventions. Additionally, they will work collaboratively with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare staff to provide holistic care and ensure positive patient outcomes.
This role requires giving direction to Emergency Department Techs, Registration Staff, and allied health professionals, while also receiving guidance from the Emergency Department Director, Physicians, Mid-level Providers, and the Director of Nursing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and indirect care to emergency department patients, ensuring patient safety, comfort, and care quality.
- Assess and triage patients rapidly and accurately, considering both physical and psychosocial needs.
- Collaborate with ER physicians and mid-level providers to communicate changes in patient condition and response to treatment.
- Respond swiftly to changes in patient conditions, taking appropriate action to ensure proper care and outcomes.
- Maintain effective communication with patients, families, and the healthcare team to facilitate a smooth and efficient care process.
- Provide direction and guidance to ED techs, registration staff, and allied health staff.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and compliance with ER protocols and best practices.
Shift:
- 3x12 schedule (11:00 AM β 11:00 PM) with some weekends required.
Education & Experience:
- Required: Degree from an accredited nursing program.
- Preferred: Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) and Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN).
- Required Experience: Minimum of 2 years of Emergency Room (ER) nursing experience.
Licensure & Certifications:
- Required: Active MT State RN Licensure.
- Required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, and ENPC certifications, or these must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of Emergency Department nursing principles and procedures.
- Proficiency in IV insertion and management.
- Competence in using manual and electronic medical equipment.
- Ability to conduct thorough patient assessments and communicate effectively.
- Basic computer skills and proficiency in office procedures.
- Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with a diverse healthcare team, patients, and families.
