Responsibilities
The Controller provides leadership and oversight for all accounting functions at USA Health, ensuring compliance with financial standards and regulations This role involves managing the general ledger, financial reporting, audits, and overseeing the health system’s financial policies and procedures. The Controller also supports special projects and initiatives as required.
· Reports directly to the ACFO and serves as the delegate for administrative and financial matters for the health system.
· Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with accounting standards, state regulations, and health system policies.
· Act as the primary liaison for external and state auditors; coordinate audits and manage audit findings and responses.
· Oversee the general ledger to ensure accuracy, integrity, and proper recording of financial transactions.
· Oversee the preparation and analysis of financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements, including monthly and annual financial statements.
· Perform complex reconciliations of balance sheet accounts and other financial records, identifying discrepancies and ensuring timely resolution.
· Prepare detailed financial reports for internal stakeholders, including variance analysis and trend reporting.
· Assist in the development and preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial plans, providing insights and recommendations to senior management.
· Manage system (Banner) finance matters, ensuring accurate and efficient operation for financial reporting.
· Implement and maintain internal controls and procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
· Administer and enforce financial policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and regulatory requirements.
· Provide guidance and mentorship to accounting staff, ensuring their professional development and compliance with accounting standards.
· Assist with financial analysis and reporting for special projects or strategic initiatives as required by senior management.
· Regular and prompt attendance is required.
· Ability to work a defined schedule with additional hours as needed.
· Perform related duties as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related business field from an accredited institution. Seven years of professional accounting or finance experience, with at least four years in a supervisory role. CPA certification required. Public Accounting experience is preferred.
