Responsibilities
Maintains financial records of assigned activities, functions, and/or facilities to include reviewing financial data and reports, preparing routine and special journal entries, obtaining and preserving adequate documentation and support for financial transactions, performing account analysis and balancing, calculating of allowances, provisions, and other financial accounting functions, reviewing and verifying postings to Financial Accounting System, and creating new accounts as required; assigns accounting codes for various expenditures, billings, receipts and other transactions; reviews and verifies codes, account numbers, authorizations, and classifications; assists in the preparation of accurate and complete financial statements using a PC; prepares various reports and summarizes information from various financial reporting systems; prepares worksheets, analysis, summaries, and other financial reports for management and for submission to third parties; reviews and verifies work of other personnel as assigned by management; provides training for other personnel; performs special projects and other work as assigned by management; communicates in person and via telephone; responds to overhead pages; regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and additional hours as required; related duties as required.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in accounting from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama and two years of professional accounting experience. A master’s degree in accounting may be substituted for one year of the required experience.
