Responsibilities
Coordinates clinical activities; performs special procedures; independently triages patients; supervises lower level staff to include assigning duties and checking work; prepares examination room for patients; positions and prepares patients for examination by physician; takes patient histories and vital signs to include pulse, temperature, blood pressure, height, and weight; assists the physician with special procedures and exams; cleans and restocks exam rooms; cleans and sterilizes instruments; operates EKG; administers injections as needed; performs routine lab procedures to include urinalysis and finger sticks; maintains inventory of supplies; answers telephone, takes messages and transfers calls; schedules appointments with other physician offices; schedules tests and procedures with physicians and/or hospitals; prepares lab and x ray requisitions; obtains test results; faxes medical records and referrals as needed; files lab and test results and dictation in charts; prepares patient referral forms; cleans and stocks medicine and supply rooms; maintains clean and orderly work area; assists with patients when needed, including lifting, supporting, or carrying patient; regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required; related duties as required.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent and three years of directly related health care experience in a clinic or hospital setting, or completion of a medical assistant training program and two years of directly related health care experience in a clinic or hospital setting.
