Job Description:
This is a parttime (up to 8 hours per week) position for a dietician dedicated to a new multiple disciplinary clinic at University of South Alabama Strada Center focused on addressing the needs and care for patients with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).
Responsibilities:
Function as a member of the multidisciplinaryteam to assess, plan end administer nutritional cere for patients with ALS and apply strategies to help prevent weight loss.
Obtain and evaluate nutrition histories, assess nutritional needs and identify nutrient requirements for patients with parenteral and enteral nutrition.
Complete written assessment of patients care plan as time of visit.
Provide education for patients and families who are on tube feeding.
Collaborate with medical providers to provide nutritional support recommendations for patients and families.
Evaluate the nutritional status of patients by reviewing pertinent information obtained from the medical record and multidisciplinary team.
Provide quality nutritional counseling to patients and family members es indicated.
Evaluate nutritional care plans for effectiveness and make recommended changes as needed.
Evaluate and asses the need for enteral and parenteral nutritional support and provide recommendations as needed.
Participate in interdisciplinary rounds as needed.
Qualtifications:
Bachelor's degree granted by college or university.
Completion of en Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics approved didactic program in dietetics.
Completion of an Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics supervised practice program.
Registered Dietician status, member of the American Dietetic Association
Minimum one year experience in clinical dietetics and/or nutrition
Knowledge of food and nutrition
Knowledge of food preparation and production
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with major course work in human nutrition, food and nutrition, dietetics, or food systems management from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama, registry with the Commission on Dietetic Registration and licensure with the state of Alabama as a dietitian.
