Responsibilities

Multiple Positions Available

 

The Clinical Programmer - Pharmacy designs, builds, configures, installs, and maintains enterprise software; works with Electronic Health Records (EHR) software (or other area specific software) but may also be assigned to other programming duties, such as C custom applications, etc.; uses the Agile project management lifecycle as part of their normal programming activities; designs, builds, configures, installs, and maintains enterprise software &/or other area specific software(s); researches, designs, implements, and manages software programs; tests and evaluates new programs; identifies areas for modification in existing programs and subsequently develops these modifications; writes and implement efficient code; determines operational practicality; develops quality assurance procedures; develops software tools, processes, and metrics; maintains and upgrades existing systems; develops training materials and trains users, when needed; works closely with other I.T. staff, clinical staff, and administration; adheres to University and Health System policies, including those related to confidentiality and HIPAA; maintains strong technical understanding of organizational EHR related systems to include, but not limited to Cerner, AthenaHealth, and/or Philips; participates in on-call rotation; regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and additional hours are required; other related duties as assigned or required.


Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or directly related field from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama and one year of experience as a hospital pharmacy technician, or a bachelor’s degree and five years of experience as a certified pharmacy technician, one of which was in a hospital setting. Current registry with the Alabama State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician. National certification with the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) is preferred – OR - high school diploma or equivalent and eight years of related experience in information technology.
