Responsibilities
Provides EEG and video monitoring for diagnosis of epilepsy and other disorders requiring long term observation; provides visual and auditory observation of remote telemetry monitoring equipment for patients located in the nursing unit or intensive care unit; recognizes and interprets basic EEG rhythms; recognizes emergency situations and responds according to protocol; maintains alarms at all times; sits for long periods of time observing monitors; requires minimal supervision to safely perform patient care/essential functions; utilizes a computer to enter unit maintenance and repair requests; maintains a written log on each patient; submits patient charges for epilepsy monitoring in a timely and efficient manner; participates in new personnel orientation; abides by and enforces hospital policies and adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards; communicates and uses appropriate customer relation skills with physicians, patients, families, and health care team in person and via the telephone; responds to overhead pages; utilizes proper body mechanics when moving and positioning and transferring patients with or without assistance when needed for patient safety and when moving supplies and equipment necessary to perform essential functions; regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and overtime and call as required; related duties as required.
