Responsibilities
Fulfilling the responsibilities and duties of a maternal fetal medicine sonographer requires attention to detail, empathy, communiction skills, and the ability to follow safety protocols for using diagnostic equipment; the full range of ultrasounds required of an MFM unit including firt Trimester/NT Certification within one year, level II Detailed Anatomy Surveys; recognizes fetal abnormalities without diret physician supervision; Fetal Echocardiography Registry within the year, invasive testing (Amniocentesis, CVS and Cordocentesis), transvaginal ultrasound, sonohysterography, fetal testing/BPPDopplers, and multiple gestation; assists in scheduling routine and specialty clinic appointments as needed; instructs residents and students in obstetrical and gynecological ultrasound techniques and instrumentation; plans, supervises, and/or participates in clinical and scientific investigations; obtains and reports statictical data as needed; uses appropriate safety precautions during ultrasound studies and in the handling, storage, and disposal of biohazardous substances; participates in educational programs and in-service meetingsl travels to remote locations to perform ultrasound examinations as needed; regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required; related duties as required.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalant, five years experience in an allied health occupation, three of which were performing perinatal/OB-GYN ultrasoun procedures, and RDMS registry with the American REgistry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers and Nuchal Translucency certification.
