Responsibilities
This position is for a medical oncologist / hematologist with clinical as a generalist at the University of South Alabama / Mitchell Cancer Institute assigned to Monroe County Hospital. Candidate must be board certified or board eligible in medical oncology and hematology. The candidate must obtain an Alabama medical license and be credentialed with insurance entities. The duties include :
- Clinics in medical oncology at the Monroe County Oncology Department with emphasis in all cancer three days / week, every other week. Will be expected to meet productivity and quality metrics.
- Be committed to providing a multi-disciplinary approach to the provision of patient care.
- Will oversee staff in the oncology department including RN, APP, and other staff as necessary.
- Responsible for utilizing Onco-EMR with chemotherapy regimens and completing all notes and orders.
- Optional to attend and participate in tumor boards specific to generalist oncology patients.
- Perform outreach to community surgeons, internists, and laypersons to develop relationships that will generate referrals. Will work with the CEO of Monroe County Hospital to create a referral strategy. Willing to make presentations and grow their volume.
- Support the mission of University Hospital / USA and Mitchell Cancer Institute and Monroe County Hospital.
Qualifications
Minimum Training and Experience Requirements :
Candidate must be board certified or board eligible in medical oncology and have an interest in being a generalist in oncology.
Necessary Special Requirements :
The candidate should have experience with electronic medical records.
