Responsibilities
This is professional technical work developing and organizing laboratory procedures and instructing medical students in laboratory procedures. An employee in a position allocated to this classification is responsible for developing and organizing laboratory procedures; instructing students in laboratory procedures and techniques; writing procedural manuals and quality control specifications; supervising technical laboratory personnel; researching literature for latest techniques; ordering supplies and evaluating new equipment; work is performed under the general supervision of a higher level technical employee and is reviewed through conference and reports; develops and organizes laboratory procedures; instructs students in laboratory procedures and techniques; writes procedural manuals and quality control specifications; supervises technical laboratory personnel; researches literature for new techniques; may order supplies and evaluate new equipment; regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required; performs related duties as required.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Medical Technology from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama and three years experience in a clinical laboratory. Registry with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists as a Medical Technologist.
A master’s degree in Medical Technology may be substituted for one year of the required experience. Blood bank experience is required.
