POSITION SUMMARY
USA Lacrosse is looking for a summer Intern to work with our Finance department. You will get to put what you are learning in school to work, gaining valuable hands-on experience working alongside an experienced and knowledgeable team of professionals to learn best practices and industry standards. You will get to hone your business analytic skills, collaboration skills, and communication skills while working on projects and tasks in the finance department and attending weekly meetings and other professional development training opportunities.
If you are pursuing a degree in accounting, business administration, or a related field who is detail oriented and eager to put what you are learning to work in a real-world work environment, this could be a great opportunity. You will get to learn from experienced professionals in the industry who are excellent teachers while playing a role to support a Mission based organization with passionate professionals who are working to grow the game of lacrosse.
A Typical Day Looks Like…
Essential Functions
- Provides administrative and project related support to our Finance team. This includes learning how to complete every day tasks completed by the finance department.
- Collaborates with and interacts with cross-departmental business teams to gather and organize financial data.
- Researches and develops White Papers on your findings so department leaders can make informed business decisions.
- Manages and organizes data extracted from Salesforce to create reports using Excel.
- Learns about and provides support for financial audits and reconciliations.

- What did you learn about USAL.
- What did you learn about your field of study and the responsibilities of the department you worked in.
- Explain your roles and responsibilities and talk about any project(s) you did.
- Reflect on skills and work habits you learned that you will take with you as you start your career.
- Reflect on skills and work habits you learned that you will not be taking with you as you start your career.
Is This You…
- Current college student pursuing a bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, data analytics, or a similar field of study.
- Ability to work 30 to 40 hours starting in June and ending in August.
- Previous work experience in some capacity. Work experience in an accounting or administrative capacity beneficial.
- Previous volunteer experience for a Mission-based or non-profit organization a plus.
- Intermediate computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft 365 products, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint.
- Enthusiastic go-getter with a “roll up your sleeves” and “get it done” attitude.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, follow up/through skills, and the ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong communication skills, including interpersonal, verbal and written.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Must possess a strong “customer first” attitude.
- Ability to exercise the appropriate level of discretion and judgment with the capability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive and proprietary information and materials.
- Ability to present a professional persona and presence to build relationships and establish credibility.
- Willingness to learn about the sport of lacrosse and appreciate the need to develop and fuel the growth of the sport with diversity, inclusion, and equity in mind.
- Ability to align with USA Lacrosse’s Mission, Vision, and Values and Strategic Plan to support our initiatives and organizational goals.
Expected Hours of Work
This is a paid internship at USA Lacrosse. The intern is expected to work between 30-40 hours per week, Monday through Friday with flexible hours between 8:00am and 5:00pm. This position will work from our headquarters office in Sparks, MD. Please note, we do not offer housing for this internship program. All candidates must live within a commutable distance from Sparks, MD.
Compensation & Benefits Overview
This is a paid internship, and the hourly pay rate will be $15 per hour.
