POSITION SUMMARY
USA Lacrosse is looking for a college student who is interested in exploring the sports journalism industry to join our USA Lacrosse Magazine team. In this unpaid internship you will get to work closely with our Magazine team to produce, edit, and socialize digital content to support USA Lacrosse's marketing and social media initiatives.

This unpaid internship will allow you to learn what it takes to work in a fast-paced environment, collaborate with multiple departments, and learn essential sports journalism and media practices for your professional growth that can be applied in your future career.
A Typical Day Looks Like…
- Assists the Magazine team with the production of content in both print and digital spaces.
- Pitches stories and/or campaigns that align with audience growth or other USA Lacrosse initiatives.
- Sees the creative process through from start to finish – pitch, report, write, edit, and post.
- Searches for and edits photography that best fit the stories being created.
- Creates article/story posts using CMS of usalacrosse.com/magazine.
- Assists in tagging and organizing photography files within our media storage platform.
- Assists with other editorial tasks as needed, such as social media content creation, multimedia production, research, etc.
Is This You…
- Actively pursuing a college degree, preferably in digital media, communications, journalism, or related field.
- Must demonstrate knowledge of or interest in the sport of lacrosse. Previous sports writing experience preferred.
- Demonstrated understanding of digital media software and editing platforms.
- Working knowledge of standard CMS functionality.
- Working knowledge of Adobe Suite (i.e., Premiere, Photoshop, InDesign).
- Demonstrated passion and enthusiasm for reporting and writing.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced, dynamic, cross-functional team working toward a common goal.
- Flexibility with your work schedule, including the ability to work nights and weekends based on business and event needs.
- Align with USA Lacrosse's Mission, Vision, and Values and Strategic Plan to support our initiatives and organizational goals.
Expected Hours of Work
This internship is expected to work between 15-30 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with flexible hours between 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. There may be occasional requirements for longer hours during the week and/or weekends based on events and other business needs. This is a hybrid position and works from the headquarters office in Sparks, Md., with the flexibility to work from home as well.
