The Athletic Trainer, National Teams is a regular full-time position reporting to the Director, Sports Medicine and Performance, MNT. The person in this role will be an integral member of USA Volleyball’s comprehensive sport performance team. This position is located in Anaheim CA providing year-round medical care for Indoor National Teams and potentially assisting with USA Beach athlete care in Torrance CA. There could also be an opportunity to assist with USA Volleyball’s National Developmental Program (NTDP). This role collaborates with a multidisciplinary team specializing in assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and performance optimization for USAV athletes. Extended hours may be required to include nights, weekends and holidays.
Requirements
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities include but are not necessarily limited to:
- Work within sports medicine team to provide comprehensive medical care for all athletes.
- Work independently as the sole medical provider for non-traveling athletes.
- Implement and/or carry out injury prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation programs.
- Monitor training sessions and assist with pre and post practice preparation and therapy.
- Help coordinate yearly athletic physicals with the medical team.
- Communicate with coaches, strength and conditioning staff, and dieticians to ensure proper. physical management of the athletes.
- Document daily injury evaluations, treatments, and rehabilitation.
- Coordinate referrals to outside providers for diagnostic or treatment modalities when necessary.
- Assist with the implementation of sports science initiatives.
- Activate emergency protocols when necessary.
- Understand the United States Anti-Doping program and aid in athlete education.
- Other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in athletic training from a Board Certification approved program [NATABOC].
- Licensed Physical Therapists may be considered for this role.
- Five (5) years of sports medicine experience after certification.
- Proficient with manual therapy and rehabilitation techniques.
- Current Health Care Provider CPR certification.
- Strong organizational and communication skills with attention to detail.
- Must successfully pass a USAV background screen (prior to hire date).
- Must complete SafeSport training within two weeks of hire date and keep current as a condition of continued employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with elite level volleyball athletes.
- CSCS certification.
- Experience with wearable technology such as Catapult.
Salary: $75,000 - $85,000.
