Job Description

The Head Athletic Performance Coach is a regular full-time position reporting to the Director of Sports Medicine and Performance and is an integral member of USAV’s comprehensive sport performance team. This position will develop, coordinate, and implement all aspects of individualized and team-wide programming for athletic readiness and physical preparation for the Women’s National Team (WNT). Cross-departmental support is expected for all positions. Extended hours may be required to include nights, weekends and holidays. 


The position is located in Anaheim, CA.


Summary of Duties and Responsibilities include but are not necessarily limited to:

· Assist in developing a periodization model that supports the demands of the WNT season and balances court training loads with strength and conditioning loads.

· Plan, teach, coach, and lead individual and group training sessions for WNT athletes wherever the team/athlete is located. Sessions primarily based on individual needs (i.e. Strength/Power/Return to Play/Rehab), direction of head coach, and in collaboration with Head Athletic Trainer.

· Develop and implement processes for athlete monitoring and accountability for progression within the WNT system. 

· Utilize Catapult load monitoring technology to monitor individual player and team load during training and competition across the National Team season and, when possible, during athletes’ professional seasons.

· Develop and maintain testing and physical performance databases. Provide reports on athlete/team status to Coaches or Chief of Sport upon request.

· Travel to domestic and international events with the WNT 

· Design and implement individual and group pre-practice/pre-game preparation plans

· Assist with design and implementation of individual and group recovery plans 

· Develop, foster, and improve relationships with International and Domestic Professional Club strength and conditioning coordinators, with the goal of improving training conditions for WNT athletes. 

· Develop, foster, and improve relationships with NCAA strength and conditioning programs, with the goals of: 1) talent identification and long term athletic development of potential WNT athletes; and 2) developing a forum/network for the open exchange of ideas/concepts/principles related to volleyball physiological development in the USA Volleyball pipeline. 

· Collaborate with National Team medical and sports performance staff: Athletic Trainers, Chief of Sport, Head and Assistant Coaches, Dieticians, Team Physicians, etc.

· Other duties and projects as assigned.


Qualifications:

· Masters Degree, Exercise Science and/or Kinesiology related field

· Minimum six years’ experience in sport physiology or related field. 

· NSCA CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist) certification

· USAW (USA Weightlifting) Level 1 Sports Performance Coach certification

· CPR and AED certification

· 4 years’ experience working directly with elite athletes (Olympic, professional, top D1)

· Must successfully pass a USAV background screen (prior to hire date).

· Must complete SafeSport training within two weeks of hire date and deep current as a condition of continued employment. 


Preferred Qualifications:

· USAW (USA Weightlifting) Advanced Sports Performance Coach certification

· Demonstrated experience using Catapult or other IMU-based technologies to monitor athlete load during training and competition.

· 6 years’ experience working directly with elite athletes (Olympic, professional, top D1)

· Demonstrated experience working with elite volleyball athletes

· Working within multi-disciplinary high-performance team 


Salary: $80,000 - $90,000
