Job Description
The Head Athletic Trainer, Women’s Sitting National Teams (WSNT) is a regular full-time position providing primary medical support for the Women’s Sitting National Team. This position works closely with other Sports Medicine and Performance team members to enhance athlete wellness and performance by providing and coordinating medical services concerning Women’s Sitting National Team athletes. Cross departmental support is a general expectation of all USAV employees. Additional hours may be required to include nights, weekends and holidays. This position reports to the Program Director, Sitting National Team and is located in Edmond, OK.
Requirements
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities include but are not necessarily limited to:
- Prevent, evaluate, and treat athletic injuries. Provide medical care to athletes at practice, training, and competition events under the supervision of the licensing physician.
- Coordinate yearly medical screening to ensure athlete health.
- Coordinate massage therapy, chiropractic care, and prescribed rehabilitation.
- Coordinate referrals through the National Medical Network or to other outside medical providers.
- Travel with Men’s Sitting National Team to specified events upon assignment.
- Manage confidential communication of athlete medical status in compliance with privacy regulations, ensuring appropriate information sharing with authorized parties including athletes, families, coaches, administrators, and medical providers
- Collaborate with USAV and USOPC staff and external partners on all areas of performance including nutrition, recovery, mental training, injury prevention, strength & conditioning, etc.
- Facilitate the maintenance and proper use of team facilities to create an efficient and safe environment.
- Evaluate, design, and implement protocols pertaining to wellness and safety.
- Oversee inventory and budgeting to meet program needs and maintain fiscal responsibility.
- Work with athletes and staff to ensure adherence to USAV and USOPC medical policies.
- Understand Anti-Doping programs and aid in athlete education and compliance.
- Other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training from a Board Certification approved program National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification (NATABOC)
- Minimum six (6) years of sports medicine experience following certification
- Current Health Care Provider CPR certification
- No record of founded malpractice claims, professional boundary violation or State Board sanctions
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and working knowledge of computer programs
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations including athletes, coaches, administrative staff, and other medical personnel in a high stress environment
- Must be able to successfully pass a USAV background screening (prior to hire date).
- Must successfully complete SafeSport training within two weeks of hire date and remain current.
Salary: $65K - $75K
