Position Summary :
The Safety Specialist is responsible for assisting in monitoring and coordinating Company safety programs, including the Department of Transportation (DOT) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) compliance, safety audits, and training.
Your Role :
- Monitor and communicate compliance with Companywide safety programs such as fleet safety, lockout / tagout, confined space, fall protection, and other safety compliance programs.
- Advises Safety Manager on procedures to ensure regulatory compliance as mandated by local, state, and federal agencies, including the Occupational Safety, and Health Administration (OSHA) and Department of Transportation (DOT).
- Monitor, track, and communicate safety incidents across the company.
- Analyzes accident and incident reports for trends and makes recommendations for correcting unsafe conditions and actions.
- Leads and / or guides safety mentors and student interns.
- Assists with the investigation of incidents and injuries from initial report to closure.
- Worker's Compensation liaison with managers, employees, brokers, insurance carriers, safety, and human resources.
- Take an active role in the improvement of safety and health in the workplace.
- Maintains reasonable, regular, punctual attendance consistent with Company policies, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family Medical Leave Act, and other federal, state, and local standards.
- Adapts to changing duties, as required, based on business needs.
