The Opportunity
We are seeking a Lead Actuary to join our Small Business Insurance team at USAA. As a key member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in strengthening actuarial and analytical capabilities. Your expertise will drive business growth by developing new rating structures, conducting rate indications, and collaborating with underwriting and product teams.
Credentialed actuaries with broad knowledge in at least one practice area (pricing, reserving, modeling, catastrophe risk, claims analytics, product management) can identify, define, and design solutions for complex problems that drive business results. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver key insights that impact LOB-level initiatives.
Your Responsibilities
Apply deep actuarial knowledge to solve complex problems with ambiguous requirements.
Develop advanced actuarial analyses that produce actionable insights for company-level decision-making.
Lead special actuarial projects, such as developing new pricing methodologies or reporting tools.
Provide technical expertise on complex topics and influence business decisions.
Collaborate with IT to influence the design, alignment, and implementation of technical business standards.
Manage USAA vendor relationships.
Assist business units in translating strategic objectives into tactical solutions.
Maintain current knowledge of market trends and emerging risks.
Communicate data-driven solutions to broad audiences, including executive leadership.
Evaluate and mitigate risks associated with business activities.
