The Opportunity

As a dedicated Corporate Responsibility Director you will oversee corporate citizenship programs and initiatives that enable USAA to lead and inspire actions that improve lives in the military and local community.  This Corporate Responsibility (CR) Director is an individual contributor role that is responsible for the development of programs, initiatives and third-party alliances that drive significant, measurable societal impact in relation to defined CR goals and objectives. This individual possesses exceptional business and process acumen, critical-thinking skills, and effectively leverages USAA research as well as third-party research to develop a deep understanding of their designated CR strategic focus area(s) or their designated CR area of responsibility.

This individual represents the USAA brand with humility and expertly builds, cultivates and maintains highly productive relationships both internally and externally. The CR Director will oversee an enterprise level program or manage a CR alliance portfolio to engage our targeted audiences and stakeholders. The CR Director is accountable for achieving results related to their designated strategy area or their assigned enterprise level program. This highly talented individual is a key hire for the organization as it moves forward with transformation and execution of the USAA CR program.

This position can work remotely in the continental U.S. with occasional business travel.

What you'll do:

  • Develops programs, initiatives and/or third party alliances that drive significant, measurable societal impact in relation to defined CR goals and objectives.

  • Accountable for achieving results related to their designated CR strategy area(s) or enterprise program. Support development of measurement metrics and standards to evaluate impact and effectiveness of CR investments and operations. Oversee the audit of all programs, grants, and nonprofit activities to ensure appropriate due diligence has been conducted and partners meet minimum requirements.

  • Leverages USAA research as well as third-party research to develop a deep understanding of their designated CR strategic focus area(s) or enterprise program.

  • Represents the USAA brand with humility and expertly builds, cultivates and maintains highly productive relationships both internally and externally.

  • Oversees a philanthropic investment budget and resources related to their designated CR strategy area(s) or program and prioritization methodology for CR function. Works across enterprise leadership to establish and revise Corporate Responsibility policies.

  • Cultivates and manages relationships with key local and national community and non-profit organizations to reinforce USAA's brand and proactively build reputation. Develops grant agreements with nonprofits receiving philanthropic contributions from USAA, USAA Bank, and The USAA Foundation, Inc.

  • Contributes to a high-performance CR team and is accountable for achieving results related to departmental goals and objectives.

  • Engages in purposeful collaboration with enterprise partners and operates within defined CR governance process and protocol. Ensures clear deliverables, service level objectives to include development of impact summary documentation of their assigned strategy area(s) or enterprise program.

  • Ensures routine and effective communication is maintained with key contacts to foster highly productive relationships. In partnership with CR engagement lead, develops and/or coordinates enterprise-wide communications. Leverages technology and social media as tools to strengthen enterprise CR engagement.

  • Travel may be required. The typical amount of travel will be up to 10%.

What you have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in business related disciplines (i.e. Business, Marketing, Economics, etc.) or Public Relations, Communications, Human Resources, Corporate Social Responsibility or a related field; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.

  • 8 years in Business Development, Product Development, Business Operations or Philanthropic Leadership.

  • Demonstrated experience leading complex assignments to highly successful and sustainable outcomes.

  • Proven track record of translating an organizational vision to reality, business acumen and process excellence.

  • Experience managing third-party relationships that are accountable for results and producing high-quality outcomes.

  • Expert experience developing and delivering various, detail-oriented types of communications to senior leadership.

  • Extensive experience applying transformation and change management skills in corporate responsibility initiative.

  • Demonstrated track record contributing to CR reporting and corporate citizenship storytelling/cause marketing.

  • Demonstrated excellence in writing, public speaking, and facilitation skills.

What sets you apart:

  • Master's degree.

  • Military Service or Military Spouse.

  • 8 years business experience leading operations within a military unit or large corporations.

  • 10 years’ experience with corporate giving or volunteer programs/sponsorship activities and operations, corporate philanthropy, or related experience.

  • Experience with nonprofit organizations, particularly those that serve the military community.

  • Experience developing social impact initiatives with accountability for achieving defined Outcomes and Key Results (OKRs).

What we offer:

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The salary range for this position is: $104,660.00-$199,970.00.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
