As USAC continues to support universal service impacting health care providers, educators, and consumers, it is critical now more than ever that we hire people equally passionate and committed to helping fulfill our mission. We are currently seeking an experienced, dynamic and collaborative professional to serve as an IT Security Engineer III with our IT team. Reporting to the Manager IT Security Operations (SOC) you will:
  • Evaluate, implement, maintain, and monitor IT security measures utilized by USAC. Collaborate with senior security engineers, architects, and leaders, while providing guidance and support to junior engineers and system administrators.
  • Analyze build, and maintain Security Operations toolsets, including vulnerability scanning, log collection/SIEM, and endpoint protection.
  • Maintain Security Assessment Packages (ATO Documentation, SSPs, Assessment Reports, Risk Calculation, etc.) and ensure that all security measures comply with organization and regulatory standards.
  • Evaluate new and existing applications for security compliance and provide recommendations to improve USAC's security posture.
  • Analyze and support remediation efforts of findings related to vulnerability and system configurations. Collaborate with IT teams to ensure vulnerabilities are addressed promptly and effectively.
  • Lead security support for USAC project development and existing USAC applications.
  • Support the SOC and Incident Response (IR) efforts; assisting the SOC and IR engineer(s)/analyst(s) in investigating security incidents as requested/needed.
  • Perform security initiative gap assessments, identifying areas for improvement and drive the implementation, testing, and maintenance of defined security solutions.
  • Lead security support for project development and existing applications, working closely with IT Operations and program support groups to ensure security is integrated into all phases of the project lifecycle.

About You
  • Bachelor's degree and/or relevant technical training with no preferred certification.
  • Minimum of Five (5) to Seven (7) years' of directly related experience.
  • Minimum of One (1) to Two (2) Operational and/or technical business leadership experience.
  • Minimum of Five (5) years of experience in IT network security implementation (i.e. firewalls, secure topologies/architectures, SIEM Tools, intrusion detection and analysis, Microsoft UNIX OS security, vulnerability assessments).
  • Minimum of Five (5) years of experience in working system administration of Unix, Microsoft operating systems (i.e. Azure, O365) virtual technologies, and IT security incident/forensics.
  • Minimum of Two (2) to Three (3) years of experience in system baseline configurations, IT security policy and standards development, and POA&M tracking and remediation.
  • Experience with Federal Security Regulations (i.e. OMB Circular A-130, MIST Guidelines), wireless network architecture, Websense configuration, security information/event manager configuration, anti-malware tools, endpoint/extended detection and response tools, vulnerability management, application security, and firewall experience with a variety of vendors.
  • High familiarity with web security solutions and incident response processes.
  • Operational and/or technical business leadership is preferred.

Licenses and Certifications
  • One (1) or more of the following: CISSP, CISM and/or CISA certification, CCNP, MCSE or equivalent is highly preferred.
