Duties:
- This is being announced at multiple grade levels. Duties listed below will be performed in a developmental capacity at the GS-06 grade levels. At the full performance, GS-07, the incumbent will:
- Receive 911 calls, security system alarms, and radio messages involving emergencies, complaints, violations, accidents or requests for information and assistance.
- Refer non-emergency calls to appropriate civilian and government agencies.
- Provide assistance and information to medical, police and fire personnel by acting as a liaison between department personnel and other agencies.
- Perform crisis intervention with distraught emergency callers during high-risk situations until appropriate emergency field units arrive on scene.
- Maintain an accurate status and availability of emergency response equipment and personnel to assure prompt and accurate response.

- This position requires incumbent to wear a uniform.
- The work is performed in a highly stressful, restricted office environment.
- This position requires the incumbent to work shift work. This entails working an alternate work schedule, which requires an uncommon tour of duty to include nights, weekends, and holidays.
- This position has been determined to be Mission Essential regardless of weather conditions, Terrorist Force Protection Condition (TFPCON), or installation closure and to report to the duty station at the regularly scheduled time.
- This position has been determined to be a Key Position and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization. Shall not be filled by Ready Reservists to preclude position from being vacated during mobilization.
- This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a valid state of Alaska drivers license.
- Required certifications: DoD Telecommunicator I and II, DoD Hazardous Materials Awareness, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, Emergency Medical Dispatch System.
- This position requires the incumbent to maintain an overall compliance score of 90% percent, or better, as reviewed by the Advanced Quality Assurance (AQUA) software.
- This position requires the incumbent to attain continuing dispatch and Intrusion Detection education through in-service training.
- Designated Mission Essential Position: Incumbent is required to report for duty during inclement weather, Natural Disasters, and other emergency situations as directed by the Commander.
- May be required to remain on duty after the official shift ends, i.e., mandatory overtime; subject to recall to duty.
- Incumbent must maintain a functioning telephone to aid in contact during recall/emergency situations.
- Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain clearance certification with the Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN).
- For Public Safety Commission: access and exposure to law enforcement sensitive information and operation of NLETS/NCIC terminals when applicable.
