POSITION SUMMARY
The position of Pathology Laboratory Technician II requires attention to details, especially in the labeling, handling, and processing of Pathology Specimens. Responsible for a variety of clerical duties including computer competency, test order entry, filing, copying and organizing reports, records and mail. Directly reports to Lab Support Coordinator and Mgmt.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists and transcribes by printing reports, separating copies and processing copies for mailing.
- Follow-up with problems and complaints.
- Looking up results in computer.
- Matches slides with gross work sheet in am and delivers them to the Pathologist.
- Monitors volunteers in department who files slides and reports.
- Processes incoming test requests for Pathology, cytology and out-patient clinical, incoming and outgoing test results.
- Recognizes the administrative changes in staffing and scheduling and adapts to these changes.
- Responsible for understanding and participating in the organization-wide Quality Improvement Program through orientation, education, departmental and interdepartmental quality control, quality improvement, and quality planning activities.
- Retrieves and process slides for consultation review and send outs.
- Retrieves and process slides for out-patient use.
- Stock replenishing
Minimum (Required) High School diploma or equivalent
Work Experience
Licenses and Certifications
Minimum (Required)
- California Phlebotomy Certification - CPTI or CPTII required.
- Must successfully complete and maintain BLS certification.
Pay Transparency
The hourly rate range for this position is $21.00 - $24.65.
