The USC Alfred E. Mann School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences seeks a full-time Program Specialist to support the PharmD Curriculum and Pathway Program.

The incumbent will play a crucial role in ensuring the success and effectiveness of the new and innovative USC Mann PharmD curriculum, developed in accordance with the Strategic Plan: Pharmacy Education 2030. This position is essential for managing the complexities of the current curriculum, addressing operational challenges, supporting logistical needs, and ensuring that both students and faculty have the necessary resources and support. The incumbent will also support the USC Mann Bachelor to PharmD Pathway, ensuring a seamless transition for students from the undergraduate phase through the bridge summer phase into the P2 year of the PharmD program.

General Responsibilities:

Workload Management:

  • Assist the current team in managing the expanded curriculum requirements and changes in exam administration.
  • Support the integration of new educational and assessment technologies and updated standards.

Exam Coordination:

  • Manage multiple weekly exams per week, including scheduling, coordination of exam proctors, and ensuring proper administration.
  • Recruit, train, and schedule graduate student proctors.
  • Organize, coordinate, and execute room setup for examinations.

Student Accommodations:

  • Coordinate accommodations for students with special needs, ensuring meticulous planning and execution.
  • Arrange appropriate testing environments and necessary resources.
  • Liaise with Student Affairs, students, and faculty to meet individual accommodation requirements.

Curriculum Development and Implementation:

  • Coordinate implementation with the curriculum committee, the Associate Dean of Curriculum, and the university curriculum office.
  • Support extensive logistical planning and execution.

Instructional Technology Support:

  • Support the use of instructional technology tools and platforms.
  • Assist in the integration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of these technologies.
  • Provide technical support to faculty and students.
  • Gather data on technology usage, analyze effectiveness, and make recommendations for improvements.

Pathway Program Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance to students to prepare them for integration into the PharmD program
  • Ensure the quality of education and the efficiency of curricular operations and assessments.
  • Coordinate interviews and orientation sessions for Pathway students.
  • Monitor and manage students’ progression in both didactic curriculum and co-curricular activities.
  • Track and monitor student outcomes to ensure they meet PharmD program standards.
  • Collaborate with faculty to maintain and update curriculum content mapping, conducting annual quality assurance checks.

Pathway Bridge Summer Phase

  • Oversee students’ progression in didactic curriculum, experiential education (EE), co-curricular activities, and interprofessional education (IPE).
  • Coordinate the delivery of the curriculum, including course and assessment schedules and room reservations.
  • Continue to track and monitor student outcomes as the students transition to the PharmD program
  • Work with faculty to maintain and update curriculum content mapping, conducting annual quality assurance checks.

Reporting relationship:

This position reports to the Associate Dean of Curriculum.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in academic administration or curriculum support.
  • Strong organizational and coordination skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and students.
  • Knowledge of educational technologies and exam administration processes.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with academic technology systems (e.g. Brightspace, ExamSoft etc.)

The hourly rate range for this position is $30.27 - $34.31. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.

2-Year Fixed Term Position


Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree, Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education Minimum Experience: 2 years Minimum Field of Expertise: Directly related professional experience in program specialization, e.g., counseling or teaching.
