POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Night Custodian (2:30pm to 10:00pm)
Department/Location: High School
Position Qualification: Classified – 12 month
Reports To: High School Principal
Terms of Employment: At-Will
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
GENERAL
Keeps all assigned facilities clean, sanitary and in orderly condition; maintains grounds, provides classroom and program support by performing duties assigned by immediate Supervisor and/or Building Principal.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One-year experience desired in custodial and maintenance work.
- Ability to interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Must be able to read, write and comprehend written and oral instructions.
- Ability to efficiently utilize Microsoft Office software and district email.
- Ability to understand chemical hazards.
- Must be a licensed driver in the state of Kansas.
- Ability to work independently without supervision.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff and school community.
- Meets all safety requirements as directed by the District.
- Must support district mission, goals and objectives.
Essential Functions
- Performs housekeeping duties which shall include, but not limited to: sweeps, dusts, strips, scrubs, mops, polishes, waxes, buffs and vacuums hallways, stairs, classrooms and offices; empties all inside and outside trash containers; assists with periodic or emergency classroom clean-up duties.
- Reports need for minor/major repairs to lighting, heating and ventilation systems or equipment to building administrator, promptly.
- Performs minor repairs and adjustments.
- Picks-up litter, clean grounds; clean snow and debris from sidewalks; assists in emergency clean-up or removal of snow/debris.
- Performs work orders.
- Assists by moving, hauling and rearranging furniture as classroom or building revisions are made.
- Assists with moving, set-up and storage of audio-visual, classroom equipment and/or curriculum materials.
- Assists in cautioning staff about constrains in the safe use of equipment, facilities or property.
- Performs lunchroom custodial services.
- Inspects for and conducts pest control.
- Stays alert to and reports emergency situations; abides by district safety standards.
- Uses cleaning implements, equipment, machinery and vehicles provided by the district to accomplish job tasks including but not limited to sweepers and vacuums, scrubber, floor waxer and buffers.
- Manages job requirements with physical dexterity to use small basic hand tools in simple procedures (change bulbs, provides computer electrical service, replaces glass panels, work gauges, etc.).
- Manages job requirements with ability to access remote areas of buildings, including unstable surfaces and areas with construction debris; climbs ladders and scaffolds; crawls through tunnels and other limited areas as necessary.
- Attends training as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Regular attendance is required.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision. Occasionally, yet essential to this position, the individual must meet deadlines with severe time constraints and interacting with the public and other workers. Occasionally, the position requires the employee to work irregular or extended hours; direct responsibility for the safety, well-being or work output of other people; and meets multiple demands from several people.
Work Environment
Must work in and around dust, fumes and odors, noisy and crowded environments, and work indoors and outdoors year-round in a variety of temperatures; may be required to wear protective gear including gloves for exposure control. Must manage job requirements with physical mobility to move from place to place (walking, standing, stooping, pushing, pulling, kneeling, crawling, turning, reaching, climbing, balancing, lift up to 75 lbs. on a daily basis), and use large heavy equipment.
