The Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) is the public health agency in the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) responsible for ensuring the safety of the nation's commercial supply of meat, poultry, and egg products. FSIS employs approximately 9,000 personnel, most of whom work on the front lines of food safety across the country. Our workforce uses tools like the Public Health Information System (PHIS) to address current and future public health issues. This is a full-time, on-site role located in Atlanta, GA for a Consumer Safety Inspector. The Consumer Safety Inspector will be responsible for conducting daily inspections of meat, poultry, and egg products to ensure compliance with federal regulations. Tasks include overseeing the humane handling and slaughter of animals, verifying sanitation protocols, conducting hazard analysis and critical control point (HACCP) verification activities, and ensuring proper labeling and packaging of products.
