The Director formulates policy, provides departmental leadership and is responsible for fiscal planning and control, program delivery, personnel, facility operations, facility maintenance and planning. A portion of the budget is derived from generated revenue. Activities include memberships to the Campus Recreation Center, facility rentals, sale of goods and services (canoe rentals, personal training, trips, outdoor rental center, camps, etc).
- Responsible for the personnel management, policies, and procedures for Recreation & Wellness staff.
- The Director serves as an advocate for the department within the university and represents the university at professional meetings. The Director compiles information and prepares reports necessary for the planning, directing and reporting of program activity; conducts program evaluations; ensures training of personnel; and consults with other university staff regarding student services and other university concerns.
- Responsible for the development and allocation of the department's annual budget (excess of $4,300,000) and the analysis of fiscal plans for short and long term revenue generation. Also accountable for the department's compliance with University accounting and auditing policies, principles and procedures.
- Responsible for developing and implementing policies and procedures for the department's programs and services.
- Responsible for long and short term planning to include strategic fiscal and organizational planning; leadership and administration of all programs and services.
Requires a Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution with a minimum of seven years related exempt experience, including five years of managerial experience. Experience leading a team, project, program or function.
Preferred
Master's degree in related field (management, student affairs, exercise science, education, or other related) and 7-10 years experience in a leadership role, supervising professional staff in recreation. Demonstrated successful experience with developing and managing large, comprehensive budgets. Experience with staff development. Experience with managing indoor and outdoor facilities. Facility growth and planning experience. Assessment experience.
