This is a non-tenure track, nine-month, full-time position with an initial one-year appointment renewable up to a total of three years. The recipient will provide a culminating public exhibition and lecture at the end of the appointment and will have access to internal funding to support dissemination of completed work on a national or international scale during their appointment. During their visit, the recipient will teach Up to six credits of required courses and one course related to their research each semester. Courses may be design studios, lectures, and/or seminars. The anticipated start date is August 2025.
Primary Responsibilities
- Propose a research initiative aligned with one’s expertise and associated with a pressing challenge impacting the urban experience and undertake it in collaboration with students enrolled in graduate courses related to one’s expertise.
- Impart knowledge and skills and stimulate students’ critical thinking and creative abilities through highly effective graduate teaching in studios, lectures, seminars, and directed studies (e.g. thesis).
- Share ongoing research within the school, college, and university through lectures and exhibitions.
- Disseminate work completed within the visiting teaching professorship within national or international venues.
- Terminal degree in architecture (M.Arch.) or comparable degree in related field.
- Professional experience in architecture.
- Teaching experience in architecture.
- Demonstrated commitment to research and/or reflective practice.
- Record of excellence in architectural practice.
- Evidence of teaching excellence.
- Indication of interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Letter of interest.
- Curriculum vitae.
- Statement of teaching philosophy, one page maximum.
- Statement of research and/or reflective practice interests, one page maximum.
- Digital portfolio, in PDF format, that includes examples of professional architectural practice work, other research and/or reflective practice works, and teaching outcomes (student work).
