Job Duties :
This position will support the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) / Integrated Experiments and Evaluation Division (RVE) to provide support in cradle to grave efforts.
- Support in concept design, development, integration, test and evaluation, and engineering prototypes to demonstrate the viability of innovative space technologies.
Cradle-to grave support to ground, high-altitude balloon, near-space and spaceflight experiments and mission concepts.
Technical support to concept development, requirements analysis, requirements definition, modeling and simulation, design, assembly, integration, and testing (AI&T), launch vehicle integration, ground system development / support, flight operations, user segment support, data acquisition, post-experiment analysis, technical reporting, technology transition, and / or decommissioning.Support processes and functions include scientific, technical, systems engineering, ground system development / support, flight operations, user segment support, and program advocacy activities associated with integrated flight experiments.Provide research laboratory with systems engineering advisory assistance, including daily engineering management consultation in support of development activitiesLeads system / enterprise level engineering analysis to identify experiment problem areas; provide impact analysis, forecast potential failures, and present options with potential to mitigate these problemsSupports formulation of relevant information of experimentation objectives and performs engineering analysis and system-level assessments for decision support at various meetings and sustainment forumsPerform studies and analyses of military air, surface, maritime, space and cyberspace missions to assess integration, system-of-systems factors, system vulnerability and survivability, system commonality, new technologies, enhancements, commercialization, cost effectiveness, and mission assuranceEssential Duties :
Provide research laboratory with systems engineering advisory assistance, including daily engineering management consultation in support of development activitiesEvaluates and produces products of a technical nature using technical rigor, adequacy, completeness, and appropriate application of the specialty engineering disciplines as standard processAssists with technology readiness assessments; identify risks and issues with proposed technologies while collaborating with other teams (i.e., Test & Evaluation, Integrated Logistics Support, etc.)Conducts system / enterprise level engineering analysis to identify experiment problem areas; provide impact analysis, forecast potential failures, and present options with potential to mitigate these problemsSupports formulation of relevant information of experimentation objectives and performs engineering analysis and system-level assessments for decision support at various meetings and sustainment forumsPerform studies and analyses of military air, surface, maritime, space and cyberspace missions to assess integration, system-of-systems factors, system vulnerability and survivability, system commonality, new technologies, enhancements, commercialization, cost effectiveness, and mission assuranceExpert in architecture and technical requirements developmentHighly knowledgeable in space situational awareness architecture development and capability limitationsExpert in systems engineering and program management focused on development, testing, and employing information operations, space, and airborne systemsExpert in space system design, development, integration, test, and operationsExpert in multiple space control-related technologies, including but not limited to optical sensors, radar, electronic support, signals intelligence, and communicationsDemonstrates ability to organize and conduct system level technical design reviews and audits"Required Qualifications :
10 years of experience in systems engineering related to DoD & major space systems / programs with at least 5 years in a leadership roleEducation / Certification :
Master’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM), Information Technology, computer science or similar from a regionally accredited institution preferred.Professional engineering certification equivalent to Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act Level 3 Systems Engineering Certification, or, or demonstration of continued education.Required Clearance : Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility
