Support high-level missile warning operations as an Operations Planner – Missile Warning (MW) at Buckley AFB, CO. This position provides subject matter expertise in missile warning and tracking missions, collaborating with USSF exercise planners and Delta 4 stakeholders to design and execute mission-critical exercises. Essential Duties
Space Operations Planning & Coordination
- Serve as the primary interface between the USSF Exercise Team and Delta 4, ensuring seamless integration of MW training requirements.
- Coordinate with key stakeholders to design and develop MW scenarios, including timing, effects, and player actions for USSF-led exercises.
- Identify gaps in Modeling and Simulation (M&S) tools to enhance the realism of training environments.
Exercise Execution & Support
- Assist with the planning, execution, and evaluation of USSF service-level exercises, Flashpoint events, and mission-focused operations.
- Participate in exercise planning conferences, coordination meetings, and training events.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to determine manning and resource needs for successful execution.
Lessons Learned & Reporting
- Analyze and capture observations and lessons learned throughout the exercise lifecycle.
- Support hot wash debriefs and contribute to after-action reports (AARs) to refine future exercises.
- Prepare comprehensive event-related documentation, including trip reports, lessons learned, and meeting minutes, in accordance with contractual timelines.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 10-15 years of operational space experience, specifically working with Missile Warning (MW) and Tracking missions (5-7 years of Missile Warning/Overhead Persistent Infrared)
- Familiarity: Understanding of Delta 4 missions, capabilities, limitations, and associated tasking and reporting procedures.
- Travel: Must be able to travel regularly between Buckley SFB, CO, and Schriever SFB, CO, for planning and exercise execution (travel approximately every 4-6 weeks).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience designing, planning, and executing USSF space capabilities in Service, Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS), or Combatant Command (CCMD) exercises.
- Familiarity with Standardized Space Trainer (SST) for Missile Warning (MW) mission planning.
- Experience using System Toolkit (STK) or similar orbital analysis software for mission planning and analysis.
Education & Certification
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in a related field OR additional years of experience may substitute for degree requirement.
Required Clearance
- Top Secret/SCI with Special Access Program (SAP) eligibility.
Travel
- Moderate travel required, approximately every 4-6 weeks between Buckley SFB, CO, and Schriever SFB, CO for planning and exercise events (1-2 days for planning, 3-4 weeks for exercise execution).
