Job Title: SCCM Patch Engineer
Location: Must be able to report to London or Franklin County, Ohio
Client: Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (ODRC)
ODRC is seeking a highly skilled and experienced SCCM Patch Engineer to manage and deploy software updates and security patches across the organization's network. The role focuses on utilizing Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) and Qualys vulnerability management to ensure timely patching compliance while minimizing disruption. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with patch management, strong scripting skills (PowerShell, VB), and the ability to troubleshoot patch deployment issues.
Key Responsibilities:-
SCCM Patch Management:
- Deploy software updates and security patches across the network using Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM).
- Monitor emerging vulnerabilities and prioritize critical patches to minimize security risks.
- Analyze patch compliance reports to identify and resolve potential security threats.

Qualys Vulnerability Management:
- Work with Qualys vulnerability management tools to monitor, assess, and remediate vulnerabilities across the organization's infrastructure.

Scripting and Automation:
- Develop and maintain scripts (PowerShell, VB) to automate patching processes and reduce manual intervention.
- Troubleshoot issues related to patch deployments and identify solutions to ensure minimal disruption to users.

Patch Deployment and Scheduling:
- Test, schedule, and monitor patch deployments to ensure timely application while minimizing system downtime.
- Ensure compliance with organizational patch management policies and procedures.

Documentation:
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including application functionality, test methods, and flow diagrams (Business/Functional).
- Document solutions and troubleshooting steps to assist in resolving future issues and for knowledge sharing.

Mentorship and Training:
- Plan and conduct formal mentorship activities for peers and lower-level staff, providing verbal instruction and technical documentation as needed.

Collaboration:
- Work closely with internal teams to plan, design, and implement patch management solutions.
- Communicate patching schedules and system updates effectively to ensure smooth operations and minimize user disruption.
- Education:
- 4-year college degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in SCCM and Qualys patch management, software deployment, and vulnerability management.
- Key Skills:
- Extensive experience with SCCM for patch management and software deployment.
- Experience working with Qualys vulnerability management.
- Strong proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell and VB scripting.
- Experience with WQL/SQL queries for patch management and reporting.
- Ability to create technical documentation, including flow diagrams (Business/Functional).
- Additional Skills:
- Strong problem-solving skills to investigate and resolve patch deployment issues.
- Experience in solutions design, project technical planning, and testing/implementation.
- Excellent communication skills to work collaboratively with teams and provide updates to stakeholders.
- Ability to recommend software reusability guidelines for optimization.
- Advanced Skills:
- Experience in designing solutions for patch management and security compliance.
- Prior experience with mentoring and providing technical guidance to peers and lower-level staff.
- Ability to monitor and respond to emerging vulnerabilities, ensuring that critical patches are deployed quickly.
