To thrive in this position, be ready to bring your passion for golf, sports-management and hospitality to new heights while also learning to support sustainable golf course management practices.   As a short-term intern, you will gain professional development, career preparation tools, leadership experience and a vast network with other professionals all while having a lot of fun!   **This is a paid internship; candidates are eligible for overtime pay (time and a half) for any hours over (40) a week. Additionally, this role includes housing during the entirety of the internship.   What you’ll do:   The Championship Administration Intern will assist the Championship Senior Manager and Championship Coordinator with Championship Office administrative duties, staff logistics management, and special event preparation. Intern will have responsibilities during the periods of advance preparation and setup, the week of the championship and the post-championship breakdown.   Working at the U.S. Women’s Open, you will experience a fast-paced work environment.  The candidate must have the ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks at one time. Each day brings new challenges, and the intern must have top-notch organizational and communication skills. The ability to handle physical tasks such as lifting boxes and manual labor, spending extensive time in the sun/exterior environments should be expected. The weeks leading up to the Championship will require at least (40) hour work weeks and as the Championship grows closer, lengthen to (80 ) hours and will include weekends.   Staff Logistics: Assist in managing pre-championship staff meals and staff laundry logistics Assist in managing staff accommodations, room block changes, arrival and departure tracking Staff arrival arrangements such as office space preparation and arrival packet creation Managing the concerns, questions and requests of onsite staff members and USWO team   Special Events: Assist in managing VIP guest communication and arrival packet creation Assist championship office in preparation for various receptions, meetings and events throughout championship week   Administrative Tasks Assist with the setup, organization and tear down of staff offices, championship office, championship annex, as well as any other facility in need of assistance Answering phones, preparing mailings, opening incoming mail Keeping the Championship Office neat, clean and organized UPS shipping and receiving of championship supplies   Where you'll be:  This role will be based out of Erin, WI at Erin Hills Golf Course.    What you bring: Ability to work long and strenuous hours (40 – 60 hour work weeks) Effective communication with a wide variety of individuals involved in a national championship Resourceful, presentable, courteous, friendly and organized Good follow-up skills and ability to handle issues quickly and calmly Ability to work independently and support the team Proficiency with Microsoft Office software – above average knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Publisher Ability to prepare presentations to include PowerPoint and printed material Demonstrated ability to follow and execute detailed plans – able to anticipate and analyze problems and provide logical solutions Ability to work well under pressure   This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
