What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Director, Rules - Championships position at USGA?
About this role:
The Assistant Director, Rules - Championships will focus on supporting the championship operations function of the Rules department. This will include a key role in building and developing training for USGA Committee Members and USGA staff as it relates to refereeing and championships. The role will also lead the effort on outreach and sharing of this knowledge with AGA community.
What you'll do:
Assist with development of Referee Best Practices and training programs
Assist with development and training of championship best practices for Rules team
Lead effort on referee best practices to the AGA community
Attend USGA Championships in support of the department’s rules functions (serving on the Rules team or/and leading the Rules team)
Work outside events for other organizations (approximately 3-4 per year, depending on the year)
Teach PGA/USGA Rules of Golf Workshops (both in-person and virtually), approximately 1-2 per year
Where you'll be:
This role can be based at our Liberty Corner, NJ campus on a hybrid schedule, or remotely, with travel to Liberty Corner, NJ 3-4 times per year. If selecting a hybrid schedule, employees are expected to spend 3 days per week working in the office, between Monday - Thursday. This role also includes a significant travel component - approximately 80 days per year.
What you bring:
7 years experience in golf administration, specifically Rules or Championship Administration
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with public speaking experience
Demonstrated ability to build relationships within the industry
Achieved USGA Expert Certification on the Rules of Golf
Ability to travel approximately 80 days per year
