What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ancillary Specialist position at USI Holdings Corporation?
Responsibilities:
- Provide consultation similar to Account Executive for groups under 10 lives. Focus on education, strategy, and sales.
- Assist with quoting renewal alternatives and new business.
- Work with carriers to negotiate rates, secure new business, and maintain existing business.
- Identify cross-selling opportunities for other lines of coverage.
- Maintain case files of critical client information based on implemented workflows.
- Meet with broker to understand client goals. Review Request for Proposal (RFP) prior to submission.
- Review marketing spreadsheet results and rates from carriers for accuracy. Deliver to broker with analysis and recommendations.
- Follow-up and negotiate final terms for new/renewed business for the year with carriers.
- Coordinate with Broker Consultant to install new/renewed business and enrollments with carrier.
- Work with management and team on all aspects of administration to ensure service excellence.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with brokers, vendors, and internal staff.
- Stay current with insurance regulations, carrier plan options, underwriting rules, and other value-add programs offered by Emerson Rogers.
- With guidance, support Broker Consultant at renewal as needed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- 1 year experience working in group ancillary benefit setting preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Must have Accident & Health license.
- Basic understanding of self-insured plans.
- Familiarity with products, services, competitive offerings, market needs, industry trends, and claim procedures.
- Ability to creatively and proactively problem solve.
- Ability to stay organized and focused in a busy, team environment.
- Effective communication skills when dealing with co-workers, brokers, and carriers.
- Experienced in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong analytical skills. Capable of using and interpreting benefit related facts and figures.
