Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and implement scalable data architectures that support both operational and analytical data needs.
- Develop and enforce best practices, standards, and guidelines for data modeling, reporting, integration, and governance.
- Define data governance frameworks, including policies for data quality, privacy, and security.
- Work closely with business leaders, data engineers, and data scientists to understand business needs and align data architecture with business goals.
- Provide leadership in translating business requirements into actionable data solutions. Collaborate with IT teams to ensure proper infrastructure support for data architecture needs.
- Evaluate and recommend emerging data technologies, tools, and platforms to continuously improve the organization’s data capabilities.
- Director level position may involve leading a team(s) of data architects, engineers, and analysts.
- Drive data-driven culture by advocating for the use of data and analytics across the organization.
- Host recurring business review meetings. Present current operational and project status updates. Prioritize tasks and resolve issues.
- Serve as subject matter expert in the data and analytics space. Act as a consultant and liaison to internal and external teams.
- Operate in accordance with USI Policies for the Information Security Program (PISP) and USI Standards for the Information Security Program (SISP).
- Keep up to date with security updates and improvements. Implement improvements as appropriate.
- Protect systems against unauthorized access by appropriately defining access.
- Upgrade systems by implementing and maintaining security and technical controls.
- 7 years of experience in data architecture, data management, or related roles, including at least 3 years in a leadership capacity.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, information systems or a related field.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to deep dive into technical topics as well as converse at the executive level.
- Experience directing or managing small to medium projects.
- Proven ability to supervise, mentor, and/or manage technical teams.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
- Experience with data modeling, data engineering, and reporting techniques.
- Ability to travel up to 20% of time.
