USL Spokane is seeking an experienced Athletic Trainer to support our men’s professional soccer team, Velocity FC. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated professional who thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and is passionate about advancing the standards of sports medicine in professional soccer. The Athletic Trainer is responsible for managing the day-to-day sports medicine operations for the Spokane Velocity FC. The Athletic Trainer will lead and deliver daily prevention, assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries and illnesses. The athletic trainer will also perform professional and administrative services essential for the successful implementation of the program. This role reports directly to the Director of Sports Medicine. General job duties include, but are not limited to:
- Determine and deliver appropriate healthcare to players including first aid/emergency care, on-site injury evaluation, application of appropriate modalities, development and implementation of rehabilitation and prevention programs, and scheduling of medical referrals.
- Attend all team-sponsored events including practice sessions, gym sessions, home games, away games.
- Coordinate with the visiting team to ensure access to appropriate medical services and supplies.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of interventions using evidence-based practices to guide decisions.
- Oversee, in collaboration with medical staff, the early-stage rehabilitation design and implementation of individualized rehabilitation programs and return to fitness protocols.
- Electronically documents all relevant injury and illness information including mechanism of injury, examination and diagnosis, assessments, player treatments, and return to play progressions.
- Work in collaboration with Director of Sports Medicine to design and implement programs to reduce the risk of injury and illness.
- Complies with OSHA standards regarding blood-borne pathogens.
- Keeps athletic training room and other areas safe, clean, and organized.
- Initiates medical insurance claims for players and works collaboratively with human resources and medical staff throughout the entire claims process.
- Complies with all League medical policies and protocols.
- Abides by all local, state, and federal laws and regulations specific to the profession, codes, and standards of the associated governing bodies.
- Attends all activities/meetings/programs as required by the League.
- Attends activities/meetings/programs to maintain professional license(s) and continually improve the level of health care services delivered to the players.
- This position must be able to work flexible hours which will include extended days, nights, weekends, holidays, and overnights due to travel.
Minimum Qualifications Include:
- Must be certified by the Board of Certification (BOC) and be in good standing.
- Minimum five (5) years of experience as an athletic trainer after receiving BOC certification.
- Minimum of three (3) years working in the professional sports industry, preferably soccer.
- Experience overseeing care and return to play protocol.
- Multilingual preferred.
- First Aid and CPR certification required.
- Personal liability insurance.
- Ability to pass comprehensive background check including a motor vehicle report.
- Ability to pass SafeSport Training.
- Possess and maintain a current and valid driver’s license and maintain legally required insurance.

Compensation and Benefits:
- Salary range $78,000 - $88,000
- Eligible for annual discretionary bonus
