Key Responsibilities
- Coverage Evaluation: Review the first notice of loss and policy documentation to determine coverage; draft disclaimers and reservation of rights letters when appropriate.
- Claims Investigation: Conduct comprehensive investigations, including analysis of liability and damages, witness interviews, site inspections, and evidence gathering.
- Adjuster Oversight: Engage and direct independent adjusters while overseeing the full scope of the investigative process.
- Liability Assessment: Analyze legal statutes and case law to evaluate exposure and ensure equitable contribution from joint tortfeasors.
- Reserve Management: Maintain accurate reserves that reflect current assessments of liability and damages throughout the life of a claim.
- File Oversight: Manage claim files proactively; negotiate settlements with claimants or their attorneys, direct defense counsel, and drive effective litigation strategies.
- Comprehensive Reporting: Prepare detailed reserve authority requests, reinsurance and serious loss reports, and formal coverage position letters.
- Team Collaboration: Share insights and updates across underwriting, compliance, and actuarial teams to support sound product development and risk management.

Qualifications
- Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience for Associate Claims Examiner
- Minimum 7 years of relevant experience for Claims Examiner
- Prior roles as a claims examiner, adjuster, paralegal, attorney, or in a similar capacity
- Preferred Expertise:
- Experience handling claims under Directors & Officers (D&O), Errors & Omissions (E&O), Cyber Liability, or other professional lines involving claims-made policies
- Additional Assets:
- Multi-jurisdictional claims experience
- Advanced degrees and/or Juris Doctor (JD) a plus
