Job Summary
Supervises and performs journeyman level work in constructing and repairing cabinets, shelves, doors, windows, and other wood and metal equipment.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervises and participates in all types of repair and construction involving woodwork, cabinet and furniture, metal work, hardware installation and adjustments, door hanging and window repairs, and other items incidental to maintenance of buildings.
- Lays out outline or dimensions of parts on paper or lumber stock and matches material for color, grain, or texture.
- Sands and scrapes surfaces and joints of articles in preparation for finishing.
- Installs hardware for adherence to designated dimensions and specifications.
- Maintains required stock of lumber and fills requisitions to supply lumber for University buildings, alterations, or repair projects.
- Follows a predetermined schedule of preventive maintenance on cabinet shop machinery and hand tools. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in a timely, fair, and objective manner and performs other duties as assigned.
