Job Summary
Processes the de Grummond Children's Literature
Collection, accessioning, tracking and managing newly acquired published
materials and preserving the collection. Materially assists with collection
management. Provides reference service to de Grummond patrons. Contributes,
expertly searches and retrieves records from several complex archival and
library systems such as ArchivesSpace, Preservica, LibApps, and Alma. Supervises student assistants and/or
volunteers. Works under the supervision of Assistant Curator of de Grummond Children’s Literature Collection
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
2. Materially assists with collection management through such tasks as: shelf management; conducting and/or directing the shifting of materials; pulling materials for binding orders; and preservation processing.
3. Provides reference assistance to the University community and to visiting researchers on campus. Assists researchers both nationally and internationally through telephone, mail, and electronic methods.
4. Provides excellent reference services in Cleanth Brooks Reading Room. Expertly searches and retrieves records from several complex archival and library systems such as ArchivesSpace, Preservica, and Alma. Records statistics in LibApps. Provides reference assistance to the University community and to visiting researchers on campus. Assists researchers both nationally and internationally through telephone, mail, and electronic methods.
5. Supervises student assistants and/or volunteers working on de Grummond tasks.
6. Serves as “back-up” for daily mail for Cook and McCain Libraries and incoming shipments delivered to Receiving.
7. Works with the Digital Lab in the selection, description and release of images in accordance with US copyright law and contractual agreements.
8. Completes or assists with special projects including but not limited to: selecting, researching, and composing an entry about material in the collections for the Item of the Month; curating and installing exhibitions within the McCain building and local community; and organizing annual and special events. Participates in University Library committees and groups as assigned.
