Job Summary
The position
provides state-wide coordination and oversight of the education, outreach, and
communication initiatives for the NSF EPSCoR RII-Track I Center for Emergent
Molecular Optoelectronics (CEMOs) and other federal grants such as NSF Research
Experience for Undergraduates Site, Research Experience for Teachers Site, and
NSF Graduate Research Traineeship. The
position reports to the CEMOs Science Director and Director of NSF student
grants. This is a full-time position.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Directs the education, outreach and communications efforts for the Mississippi NFS EPSCoR RII-Track I CEMOs, coordinating and tracking efforts at the four research institutions in the state (University of Southern Mississippi, Mississippi State University, Jackson State University and University of Mississippi. Activities include organizing student and faculty training, coordinating with site education representatives, preparing communications for the general public, and serving on the Management Team of CEMOs.
- Manages training, education and outreach for NSF NRT, REU and RET programs. This includes recruiting, application processing, day-to-day activities of the programs, selection, training, and tracking of participants.
- Leads outreach efforts for all EPSCoR Track 1 and NSF programs. This includes building relationships with K-14 schools, coordinating field trips and teacher workshops, as well as arranging faculty and graduate student outreach activities. Prepares and distributes communications to all EPSCoR participants. Coordinates the annual EPSCoR research and professional development meetings as well as quarterly graduate student meetings.
- Organizes and assists in delivery of communication skills and professional development skills training for all program participants.
- Assists in preparation of annual reports for NSF. Coordinates and oversees the assessment of the programs.
- Assists in preparation and development of NSF and other agency proposals.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
