Job Summary
Plans,
directs, and coordinates Fire/Safety for the University community. Ensures compliance with all federal, state,
and local fire/safety codes and regulations. Recommends appropriate Fire and Safety policy and procedures. Manages University elevator contract and
service technicians.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Promotes fire and personal safety through inspections, briefings, classes, fire detection and extinguishing systems. This includes assistance, guidance, and inspections as requested at the University and regional campuses.
- Responds to all fire alarms and emergencies on campus. Assigned to an on-call rotation to respond to Fire Alarms and Emergencies after normal working hours.
- Performs and documents building inspections on USM campuses. Performs and documents fire drills on USM campuses.
- Coordinates actions and monitors all state, federal, and local codes to ensure that the University is in compliance. This includes but is not limited to identification, storage, and disposal of hazardous chemicals and materials.
- Monitors University elevator service contract and service personnel for timely elevator service, safety code adherence, and proper charges. This includes periodic visits and reviews of each shaft and associate cars and equipment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
