Job Summary
This is a mid-level technician position that is funded by a 4-year collaborative project through DARPA-Arcadia (https://www.darpa.mil/news-events/2021-09-14) entitled IMPEDE: Inhibiting Molds with Probiotic Ensembles from Diverse Environments. Duties of the research technician will include supporting research pursuant to the project objectives and working closely with project collaborators from Columbia University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, University of Wisconsin-Madison and the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL). Work is performed under the supervision of a technical supervisor. The position will be located on the Hattiesburg campus, and some travel will be required depending on specific research needs.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinates scientific research efforts of moderate complexity, helping define the scope and objectives of the research.
- Participates in the collection and analysis of data.
- Maintain necessary research supplies and infrastructure, dictated by research objectives.
- Follow all field and lab safety protocols.
- Write analytical reports focused on research objectives.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
