Job Summary
The primary duties are to
support research projects focused on fish age determination, ecosystem status
reporting, and environmental data analysis for the northern Gulf of Mexico.
Responsibilities include assisting with data collection, processing, and
analysis for developing automated systems, web-based tools, and R packages.
Field and lab work will involve working under varying environmental conditions,
developing coding solutions, and collaborating with academic and industry
partners. Travel and occasional overnight stays may be required. This assignment is anticipated
to work 19 hours or less per week as a part-time employee without benefits.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in processing fish scale images for age estimation using automated systems.
- Perform quality control of automated outputs by comparing them with manual readings.
- Contribute to the analysis and synthesis of environmental and fishery data for the northern Gulf of Mexico.
- Collaborate on report creation and ensure effective data dissemination.
- Support workflows for analyzing environmental data from satellite measurements and climate models.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
